Head Coach Terms of Reference
1. Aim
The role of the Head Coach is to ensure that the Club has a sustainable coaching structure that allows athletes of all ages and abilities to achieve their full potential.
2. Accountability
The Head Coach is appointed by the Clubs General Committee and as such is accountable to them via the Club Secretary.
3. Principle Roles
a) Liaise with the Club Secretary to ensure that the database of all active coaches and their qualifications is maintained up to date.
b) Ensure that the Club Secretary holds signed copies of the Coaches Code of Conduct for all active coaches.
c) Ensure that all Assistant Coaches have a suitably qualified coaching mentor.
d) To update the Coaches Code of Conduct as and when required.
e) Act as the focal point for all coaching issues at the club.
f) Act as the Clubs expert on all coaching issues.
g) Organise and preside over coaching meetings as and when they are required.
h) Where necessary organise and run any training days in order to update the Club’s Coaches on any coaching issues that may arise from time to time.
i) Liaise with third parties on coaching issues that may have an impact on the club.
j) Where it is considered necessary, represent the Club at District, Area or National meetings regarding coaching issues that may arise at the Club. Where these issues cannot be resolved, then the Head Coach should bring these to the General Committee who, after consulting with the concerned parties will make a decision as to the way forward. Any such decision made by the General Committee shall be binding on all parties concerned.
4. Liaison
In conjunction with the Club Secretary, act as the Liaison Officer between the Club and SML Ltd. regarding any trackside issues. For information Sports and Leisure Management Limited (SLM Ltd) is the company behind the Everyone Active brand.
5. Coaching Courses
Before the General Committee ratify that an Assistant Coach has successfully passed their probationary period, the views of the Head Coach should be sought.
