Policy on Coaching Courses

1 GENERAL
In order to ensure that the club gets value for money and the continuity of coaching across all age groups, the General Committee have adopted this policy.
2 PERSONS WISHING TO BECOME ASSISTANT COACHES OF THE CLUB
a) Personnel wishing to become Assistant Coach (and ultimately Coach) at the club will initially have to fund the course fees themselves.
b) The club will refund the course fees once the Assistant Coach has completed 80 hours of coaching practice under a suitable mentor(s) at either the Minors/Panthers sessions or the more advanced sessions on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evening or a Saturday morning. The total of 80 hours could be gained at a mixture of session types but at least 44 hours must be attributed to advanced sessions (e.g. the Assistant coach could practice 36 hours at panthers/Minors and the remaining 44 hours at advanced sessions).
c) The onus is on the Assistant Coach to ensure they keep a written record of the time spent coaching including the hours and this is signed off by the Lead Coach for these sessions.
d) Any Assistant Coach who chooses not to complete the 80 hours will not have their course fees refunded, nor will the club pay any fees should they wish to progress their coaching careers.
e) Any hardship requests regarding the paying of course fees should be put in writing and sent to the Club Secretary.
3 ASSISTANT COACHES PROGRESSION TO FULL COACH AND QUALIFIED COACHES WISHING TO ATTEND SPECIALIST COURSES
a) The club will pay these fees on the condition that the Head Coach supports the application.
b) Specialist courses include Hammer, Discus, Pole vault and Triple Jump.
